Meet The Pencil & Pixel Team
Sara Draper // Founder & Digital Communications Strategist

Not to brag, but I pretty much do it all—and that’s what happens when you start your own digital communications company. The goal of Pencil & Pixel isn’t to become one of those big agencies (not that they aren’t awesome!). We intentionally stay small because we want to work with businesses and nonprofits that really need personalized support.
When I started Pencil & Pixel, I was inspired by the incredible small business owners I know who are doing amazing things but feel overwhelmed by social media content, algorithms, branding, and visibility. I knew my skills in digital marketing, brand development, and content strategy were exactly what they needed. So I created a business where I get to be their expert, allowing them to focus on what they truly love—whether that’s baking, consulting, or helping others. Watching my clients build their businesses and gain confidence brings me tremendous joy.
David Draper // IT Consultant (AKA Husband)

While I handle most of the creative and strategic work, this operation wouldn’t exist without my actual team: my family. My husband Dave spends far too much time ensuring my technology works and stays updated…and only sometimes asks if I’ve tried turning it off and on again! I pretend to be annoyed, but honestly, I’d be lost without him. He’s also my biggest cheerleader—supporting my ideas, engaging with my social media posts, and constantly reminding me that I am, in fact, creative (even on days when I don’t feel like it). His encouragement gave me the courage to leave my nonprofit job and jump into this wild adventure!

If I ever look cool, it’s because this kid keeps me in check. He fills me in on what “the kids these days” are saying and lovingly reminds me that I’m too old to use slang correctly. He’s also my biggest fan, always asking what I’m working on and checking out my newest projects. William is a big reason Pencil & Pixel exists—I wanted to show him that you can do what you love for a living.

My furry coworker hears about every frustration and celebration of business ownership. He’s been here from the beginning and is usually found right next to me as I create—curled by my feet or cuddled up beside me on the couch. Either way, he’s the best furbeast, and Pencil & Pixel wouldn’t be the same without him.
